Terms and Conditions for JPM Dog Training

Effective Date: 17 July 2025

These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") govern the provision of dog training services by JPM Dog Training, located at 93 Micklehouse Road, Glasgow, G69 6TG (referred to as "we", "us", or "our") to you, the client (referred to as "you" or "your").

By booking or participating in any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Services

We provide a range of dog training services, including but not limited to:

  • Group Classes, One-to-One Training Sessions, Puppy Socialisation, Behavioural Consultations, Workshops, Online Training Courses.

  • Detailed descriptions of each service, including duration, content, and pricing, are available on our website at www.jpmdogtraining.com or will be provided to you upon enquiry/booking.

2. Booking and Payment

2.1 Booking

  • All services must be booked in advance. Bookings can be made via our website, email, phone.

  • Your booking is confirmed only upon receipt of the required payment or deposit, as specified for each service.

  • We reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion.

2.2 Payment

  • Payment for services must be made in full at the time of booking, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Prices for our services are as advertised on our website or as quoted to you directly. We reserve the right to change our prices at any time, but this will not affect bookings already confirmed.

  • Payments can be made via bank transfer or cash. Details will be provided upon booking.

2.3 Cancellations and Refunds

  • Client Cancellations:

    • Group Classes/Workshops: If you cancel within 48 hours of booking you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after this time and I am unable to fill that place, no refund will be issued.

    • One-to-One Sessions/Consultations: If you cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours' notice, your payment may be transferred to a new session. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 48 hours' notice will result in the forfeiture of 50% of the session fee. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours' notice will result in the forfeiture of the session fee.

    • Non-attendance: No refunds or transfers will be given for non-attendance at any booked service.

  • Our Cancellations:

    • In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a class, session, or workshop (e.g., due to trainer illness, extreme weather, or insufficient numbers), we will notify you as soon as possible.

    • You will be offered an alternative date, a credit for future services, or a full refund. We will not be liable for any other costs incurred by you as a result of such cancellation.

3. Client Responsibilities

3.1 Dog Health and Vaccinations

  • All dogs attending group classes or interacting with other dogs must be fully vaccinated (including kennel cough where appropriate for group settings) and free from any infectious diseases, parasites (e.g., fleas, worms), or injuries. Proof of vaccination may be required.

  • If your dog shows any signs of illness, please do not bring them to a session and notify us immediately. We reserve the right to refuse participation if a dog appears unwell.

  • You must inform us of any known health conditions, injuries, or behavioural issues (e.g., aggression, anxiety, fear) your dog has prior to booking or at the earliest opportunity.

3.2 Dog Control and Safety

  • You are solely responsible for the control and behaviour of your dog at all times, including during travel to and from training locations.

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead unless specifically instructed otherwise by the trainer.

  • Please ensure your dog is wearing a flat collar or harness with an ID tag displaying your contact details.

  • You must clean up after your dog immediately.

  • We operate a positive reinforcement training methodology. Aversive training methods or equipment (e.g., choke chains, prong collars, electronic collars) are not permitted in our sessions. We reserve the right to ask you to leave a session if such equipment or methods are used.

3.3 Following Instructions

  • You agree to follow all instructions given by our trainers during sessions.

  • For the safety of all participants, failure to follow instructions may result in you and your dog being asked to leave the session, with no refund issued.

3.4 Children

  • Children are welcome to attend sessions but must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times and must not disrupt the training.

  • For safety reasons, children under 8 years old may not be permitted to participate directly in certain exercises or may need to remain at a safe distance. Please check with your trainer.

4. Trainer Responsibilities

  • We will provide qualified and experienced trainers for all services.

  • We will use positive, reward-based training methods.

  • We will endeavour to create a safe and supportive learning environment for both dogs and their owners.

  • We will provide clear instructions and feedback during training sessions.

5. Limitation of Liability and Insurance

5.1 Training Outcomes

  • Dog training involves live animals and human interaction. While we strive to provide effective training, we cannot guarantee specific results, as outcomes depend on various factors including the dog's individual characteristics, your consistency, and environmental influences.

  • Our advice and training methods are based on current best practices. However, we are not responsible for any actions taken by you or your dog outside of our direct instruction or supervision.

5.2 Personal Injury and Property Damage

  • You acknowledge that participation in dog training activities carries inherent risks, including but not limited to, bites, scratches, falls, or damage to property.

  • You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your dog, any accompanying persons, and your property during our services.

  • We hold Public Liability Insurance for our services. However, we will not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death to you, your dog, or any third party or their property, unless caused directly by our negligence.

  • You are strongly advised to ensure you have adequate pet insurance for your dog and personal liability insurance.

5.3 Data Protection (GDPR Compliance)

  • We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will collect and process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • We will only use your personal data for the purpose of providing our services, managing your bookings, and communicating with you. We will not share your data with third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law.

6. Intellectual Property

  • All training materials, handouts, videos, and content provided by us (whether in print or digital format) are our intellectual property and are for your personal use only.

  • You may not reproduce, distribute, or use these materials for commercial purposes without our express written permission.

7. Complaints Procedure

  • If you have any concerns or complaints regarding our services, please raise them with your trainer in the first instance.

  • If the issue remains unresolved, please contact us in writing at jpmdogtraining@gmail.com or 93 Micklehouse Road, Glasgow, G696TG within 5 days of the incident. We will endeavour to respond to your complaint within 2 working days and work towards a resolution.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  • These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of Scotland.

  • You irrevocably agree that the courts of Scotland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).

9. Severability

  • If any provision or part-provision of these Terms is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Any modification to or deletion of a provision or part-provision shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of these Terms.

10. Amendments to Terms

  • We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website and will be effective immediately upon posting.

  • Your continued use of our services after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
